There are roughly 600 maquiladoras in Baja California, with annual exportation worth US$5 million, thanks to the commercial relation with the U.S. The main export sectors are: medical devices, aerospace and automotive products, primarily, explained David Moreno Laveaga, Tijuana's Secretary of Economic Development. In addition, none of these 600 plants has shown any interest on recalling investment. As far as the Border Adjustment Tax (BAT), Moreno Laveaga declared that this fee will be absorbed by the final consumer in the U.S., which keeps the workforce competitive.
