The United States-based Exxon Mobil will open 34 service stations under the Mobil brand in Nuevo Leon, as part of its growth strategy within the country. The company said in a statement that the new service stations will be operated by Grupo Orsan, which will be supplied with the Synergy gasoline and diesel product line.

The arrival of Exxon Mobil in the northern region of Mexico is part of its commitment to invest US$300 million in infrastructure, logistics, inventory and commercialization, throughout the next ten years.

"We remain committed to the country and continue to strive to contribute to its technological development and economic growth in a transparent, safe and responsible manner." said Carlos Rivas, general director of the company.

Over the next five years, Mexico will become Latin America's leader within the photovoltaic market, said Yin Rongfang, executive vice president of Trina Solar's Photovoltaic System Business Unit.

Rongfang explained that although the process to reach the top of the photovoltaic market in the region will take time, the country's geographical location, between 14 and 33 degrees of latitude to the north, will undoubtedly serve as an advantage.

He noted that Durango, Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Sonora, Nuevo Leon, Yucatan and Coahuila are the states that have the best conditions to exploit this type of energy.

According to the executive vice president of Trina Solar, the Mexican market covers between 8 and 10% of global operations; however, in the next five years, he foresees that the quota will hike up to 15 or 20%.

Sonora is one of Mexico’s states with the highest aerospace industry development. It has one of the leading aerospace manufacturing clusters, nationwide, in which more than 60 companies already belong. This has been able to generate more than 10,000 specialized jobs, according to Jorge Vidal Ahumada, Sonora's Secretary of Economy.

The other Mexican states that lead the sector are Chihuahua with 42 companies integrated to its cluster, Queretaro with 30 and Nuevo Leon with 28, according to official figures.

Vidal Ahumada highlights that the production in Sonora is of 12 aircrafts per month, which is the equivalent of 96 doors, emphasizing that "the intention is to bump production up to 14 aircrafts by the end of 2018, this means 112 doors per month and 1,500 aircraft pieces.”
